Hanoi’s Viridescent Landscape Is Not To Be Missed
As far as attractions go, Hanoi has aplenty within the confines of the city itself. But located a mere 2-hour drive from the city is the Ninh Binh Province — a veritable and picturesque landscape filled with a myriad of natural wonders.
The two main attractions here are the breathtaking Bái Đính Temple and the always-majestic Trang An Grottoes.
- Bái Đính Temple: Placed at the foot of Bái Đính Mountain is Bái Đính Temple, a unique architectural and cultural marvel which boasts a longstanding history within its stone walls.
A highlight of this temple is scaling the 300 stone steps to reach the main hall (Tam Thế Hall), as well as the accompanying 500 or so stone Arhats that line up across the inclining hallways of the temple.
- Trang An Grottoes: Equipped with a scenic water route, this attraction has become a global phenomenon which can surely rival its counterpart, Tam Cốc-Bích Động.
A combination of limestone cliffs, an interconnected network of tranquil waterways, dark caves, and numerous religious architecture truly makes the Trang An Grottoes a near-otherworldly experience. And taking a boat tour to take in the sights, sound, and atmosphere is definitely warranted.
