Yellow Blankets Eungbonsan Mountain Come Spring

Julian Willis October 5, 2020

The unique environment of Korea’s climate makes for an interesting landscape come springtime of each year. Cherry blossoms, plum trees, and pretty forsythia then blanket over the entirety of the peninsula to create the most Instagrammable, as well as a most scenic locale.

In particular, Eungbongsan Mountain is the location of one such festival that celebrates and appreciates Korea’s one-of-a-kind mix of flora.

Eungbongsan Mountain Forsythia Festival

This is an annual event wherein visitors come far and wide to admire the pretty forsythia and royal azalea petals which blanket the mountainous regions of Eungbong-dong in Seongdong-gu. This hue of yellow (courtesy of the forsythia flower) then signals the beginning of the aforementioned festival — Eungbong-dong’s own flowering festival, the Mount Eungbong Forsythia Festival.

The Eungbongsan Mountain Forsythia Festival is one of the many cultural festivals in Seongdong-gu wherein family, couples, and residents congregate to enjoy the crisp freshness of early spring.

During the event, a bountiful amount of fun-filled activities are held for the residents and visitors to take part in. These activities include drawing contests, children’s composition, ballon art shows, live music concerts and more!
