The Last Leg of Your Great Ocean Road Trip

Julian Willis October 30, 2020

Cap off an amazing road trip on the Great Ocean Road in Melbourne by paying a visit to Port Campbell — a vibrant and lively seaside affair filled with plenty of things to see and do.

Off the top of the list, the shoreside village is filled with plenty of restaurants and cafés with beautiful shoreline views, bakeries, as well as many colourful shops and galleries to explore.

But the highlight of Port Campbell has to be its national park, the aptly named Port Campbell National Park.

If you’re a connoisseur of the Great Ocean Road, you would have undoubtedly heard of the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.

Notably, both of these attractions may be found within the park grounds along with other lesser-known albeit equally enchanting tourist spots like the London Arch, the Gibson Steps, and the Grotto.

Indeed, Port Campbell is a town that has been blessed by an abundance of natural splendour which also includes being fringed by sprawling cliffs and Norfolk pines — giving off a safe-haven-on-the-edge-of-wild-nature vibe to it.

Of course, Port Campbell also plays host to one of the best surfing spots in the area as a seaside town. If you’re looking to catch big waves, Two Mile Bay is where you want to be. But on a separate and less thrilling note, perhaps taking a short walk out to the Port Campbell Jetty to watch the waves crashing against the limestone cliffs is more up your alley.
